This Privacy Policy explains how talk to you later (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the “Services”).

We built this product around one truth: the messages you share with us are among the most intimate data a person can hold. We treat that responsibility with the gravity it deserves.

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a secure password hash. We do not require your legal name, phone number, or any government identifier.
• Message archives and media. You may choose to upload text messages, voicemails, photos, screenshots, and other files that document your relationship with the person you are remembering. This data is the core of the Service.
• Companion preferences. Tone, frequency, pacing, and other settings you configure to shape the behavior of your AI companion.
• Communication data. Emails or support tickets you send us, including any information you voluntarily include.
• Usage data. We collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about feature usage, crash reports, and app performance. This data is not tied to your identity and is used solely to improve reliability.

We use your information only for the following purposes:

• To provide the companion. Your uploaded messages are processed to create a personalized language model that drives the AI companion. This model is isolated to your account.
• To maintain and improve the Service. We use anonymized usage statistics and crash logs to fix bugs and optimize performance. We do not use your personal message content for this purpose.
• To communicate with you. We may send service-related emails (waitlist confirmations, security notices, policy updates) and respond to support requests.
• To ensure security. We analyze access patterns and logs to detect unauthorized access or abuse.

We do not use your data to train general-purpose AI models, build advertising profiles, or sell information to third parties.

The AI companion is built by analyzing the linguistic patterns in your uploaded messages — vocabulary, sentence structure, tone, and recurring phrases. This produces a fine-tuned model that is unique to your account.

Key commitments:

• Your fine-tuned model is stored in isolation. It is never merged with, shared with, or used to influence another user's model.
• We do not retain raw message content in the inference pipeline longer than necessary to generate a response.
• We do not use your data to improve the underlying foundation models operated by our AI infrastructure providers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers. We use vetted infrastructure providers for cloud hosting, database storage, and AI inference. Each provider is contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and to maintain confidentiality and security standards consistent with this policy.
• Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process (such as a subpoena or court order), and only after assessing the necessity and scope of the request.
• Safety. We may share information if we believe it is necessary to prevent imminent harm to you or others, or to protect the security and integrity of our Services.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. If you delete your account, we begin a permanent deletion process:

• Immediate. Your account and companion are disabled and no further responses are generated.
• Within 30 days. Your uploaded messages, fine-tuned model, and companion preferences are securely erased from our active systems.
• Backups. Encrypted backups may retain residual data for up to 90 days, after which they are purged through standard backup rotation.

You may request deletion at any time by emailing us. We will confirm completion within 14 days.

We employ industry-standard measures to safeguard your data:

• Encryption in transit. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is protected with TLS 1.2 or higher.
• Encryption at rest. Message archives and models are stored in encrypted form on our cloud infrastructure.
• Access controls. Employee access to user data is strictly limited, logged, and granted only on a need-to-know basis.
• Regular review. We conduct periodic security reviews and monitor for vulnerabilities.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you promptly and in accordance with applicable law.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Export your message archive and companion data in a portable format.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or profiling. We use only essential cookies and local storage necessary for authentication and basic site functionality.

Any analytics we collect are anonymized and aggregated; we do not use third-party trackers that follow you across the web.

The Services are not directed to children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Our infrastructure providers may store and process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other lawful transfer mechanisms to ensure an adequate level of protection wherever your data is handled.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

The “Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
